As well as being enthusiastic about gardening and learning more about flowers and plants, I am also a Florist waiting to be discovered. Working with flowers is something I would love to do as a living. At the moment I am looking to gain experience from florist shops or event florists because one day, I would love to have my own flower shop and be an event florist as well.
What inspired me to take this path in floristry is the impact the flowers had on me on my own special wedding day. I planned my wedding day in the UK, however it took place in South Africa. So as you can imagine, it was quite a difficult task. I had this image in my mind and explained to the wedding planner as much as possible what I had in mind. Three weeks before my wedding day, I arrived in South Africa and had to get straight into the final meetings. The first meeting was the florist and I was so nervous! My theme was cream and purple, so a very classic and romantic atmosphere and rather dramatic come to think of it.
I said to them the main flowers I wanted in my displays was Picasso Calla Lillies and Roses (white, cream, shades of pink). And when I came to the meeting with my florist in South Africa. These were the final results:
So as you can imagine I was absolutely over the moon with these! I instantly felt reassured about my special day and knew that even though I was on the other side of the world almost, all the people involved with my special day knew exactly what I meant in my e-mails!
One day, I would love to give another special person this feeling. Reassure their worries and make them feel excited about their day, I would like their flowers to be absolutely mind blowing on their special day.
